Scotland, Psalms & The Garden of Good & Evil

I would like to go on now to illustrate the devout and dogged national character of old Scotland in a more anecdotal fashion by peaking at Scottish Psalm-singing.  The distinctive form of church song coming out of the Reformation was metrical Psalm-singing without musical accompaniment. One should not think that this practice was eccentric in itself. The Psalms have been the dominant “hymnal” of the Church since the time of Christ.
